The “Prima Giornata Fiorentina dedicata ai pazienti con malattie mieloproliferative croniche” (“First Florence Day dedicated to patients with myeloproliferative disorders”) will take place on April 15th, 2011 at the New Entrance of Careggi Hospital in Florence. This event precedees the 1st Annual Florence Meeting on Myeloproliferative Neoplasms on April 16, in Palazzo Vecchio, and the Annual IWG-MRT Workshop scheduled on April 17 (members only).

The “Prima Giornata Fiorentina” is organized with the support of Careggi Hospital, University of Florence and Fundation of Istituto Toscano Tumori. The purpose is to allow patients with myeloproliferative disorders to be updated and to interact with international experts, in an informal but highly scientific atmosphere. The fist part of the Meeting will consist of a number of short scientific presentations focusing on the most recent advances in understanding the mechanisms of the disorders and on therapeutic issues, particularly on new drugs. Later on, the discussion will be carried out in smaller “working-groups”, where the participants will have the chance to ask directly the experts.
